Inside New York’s American Folk Art Museum

New York, West 53rd Street is the home of American Folk Art Museum. As the name suggests, this museum houses collections of local art in America.

The inspiration for folk art is usually at the turning points in American history, such as war or ceremony marks. The technique has produced a mirror image of the artist’s personal response to such events. For example, when creating an independent nation, with many works of art, the symbols of freedom as the great seal, American flags, and the numbers of freedom. By these symbols in their homes, citizens have confirmed their participation in the nation’s history.
